TYLER Seven people have filed a lawsuit against Brookshire Grocery Co. alleging they suffered respiratory injuries in an ammonia leak while working at a warehouse in Tyler.
The September 2017 ammonia leak at the facility at Loop 323 and Old Jacksonville Highway was deemed to have been caused by a failure in the piping on the roof of a cold storage building, according to the Tyler Fire Marshals Office.
Eleven people were treated at area hospitals and later released after the incident at the companys distribution center warehouse. In addition, some people were treated with oxygen at the scene.
The petition filed in the 7th District Court in Smith County shows the plaintiffs are seeking compensation for medical care and expenses, pain and suffering, physical impairment, mental anguish, disfigurement and loss of wage-earning capacity.
