The Texas Tribune is using data from the Texas Department of State Health Services to track how many people have tested positive for the novel coronavirus in Texas each day. The state data comes from local health officials, and it may not represent all cases of the disease given limited testing. Here's what we know about the daily numbers.Gov. Greg Abbott is looking at two specific metrics to justify his decision to restart the Texas economy the positive test rate and hospitalization levels. The local news story about restaurants going up to 50% then listed the schedule for further increases. They were all scheduled--in 2 weeks this can happen, in another two weeks something else can open up, etc. I thought, wait, they just sat down with a calendar in April and picked out the dates everything would resume? They're not waiting to see what happens with the numbers from Stage 1 before moving on to Stage 2????
I'm still hardly leaving the house and wearing a mask when I do. For a very, very long time.
