ROTFL--That HAS to Hurt!

I hope that group moderator will give me some leeway on this thread since football is all things Texas and we are nearing the end of the football season. I saw this photo in The Eagle and thought I would share it with the DU community.

WALLER -- Powered by a huge kickoff return and steered by a big call, the Navasota Rattlers' express is bound for the state football championship game.

Top-ranked Navasota extended its best season in 24 years by beating Bellville 24-7 in the Class 3A Division II semifinal round Friday night before a standing-room-only crowd of more than 10,000 at Waller ISD Stadium.

There will be plenty of room for Navasota fans at the next game. The Rattlers (15-0) will play Gilmer (14-1) in the state final at 7 p.m. Friday at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington.

Bellville, seeking its first title game appearance since 1977, finished the season at 11-4.

2. Update and unfortunate news for Navasota:

"Do it for Xavier," parents whispered into Navasota football players' ears Thursday as the team prepared to board the bus and head to the Class 3A Division II state championship game in Arlington.

Senior running back Xavier Creeks spent the morning in the emergency room instead of celebrating with his team after an early morning car accident resulted in a broken leg. His uncle, Terrance Creeks, said the leading rusher on the Navasota football team was taking his father to work in College Station when the accident occurred. He was scheduled to have surgery Thursday.

"He was a playmaker," Terrance Creeks said. "That's what I called him: 'The PlayMaker.'"

But the 100 or so parents and Navasota fans who showed up to send the team off didn't let the loss of one player, no matter how important, dampen their enthusiasm for the Rattlers, whose last appearance in a state championship game was 24 years ago. The team will face Gilmer for the Class 3A Division II title at 4 p.m. Friday at Cowboys Stadium in Arlington.

Good luck to all the teams that qualified for the state championship. I saw the first three games tonight and will be tuning in for the remaining games over the weekend. Please be careful while traveling.
