(7,572 posts)The problem is, he is a smooth talker, has a smiling facade, behind which is (name your own putrid motivations - he has them all.)
he's going to be VERY difficult to defeat electorally - I predict he'll stay the rest of his life, if he doesn't run for president some day.
edit for additional opinion
You can color me depressed and discouraged about our state.

I'm discouraged about our state too. I'm a native Texan and I love our state, but I'm been thinking about moving

Does somebody have a link to the ad? Maybe it was on Facebook.
Does anybody know when Ted Cruz become a naturalized citizen?

December 22, 1970 (age 42)
Cruz was born in Calgary, Alberta, Canada, where his parents, Eleanor Darragh and Rafael Cruz, were working in the petroleum business.[8][9] His father was a Cuban immigrant during the Cuban Revolution to the United States. His mother, an American, was reared in Delaware, in a family of Irish and Italian descent.

As a teenager, Mr. Cruzs father fought with the rebels against the Batista government in Cuba, and was captured and tortured, before fleeing to the United States in 1957. He arrived in Austin at 18 with little English and $100 sewn into his underwear. He washed dishes for 50 cents an hour to work his way through the University of Texas, then started a business in Houston.

His dad left Cuba in 1957. Ted was born 13 years later - that's a long time. I have no idea when Ted became a citizen, but his mom is a natural born citizen. If his dad came to Texas first and was employed by an oil company, there is a good chance, by 1970, his dad was a US citizen too.
I am no supporter of Ted Cruz. He looks older than 42, it's easy to forget that he was born in 1970 instead of 1960. It is easy to spin the story of his dad coming to Texas and conveniently leaving Canada out of the picture.

(4,695 posts)blank on your OP above.) I disagree that he will be hard to beat. Why? because he just will not be able to get things done as his voting record will prove. Every time both Senators vote against the working, high taxpaying class, their voting record needs to be made very public. It will show that consistently their decisions are not in line with most Texans.
If it is true that Cruz and Cornyn do not represent the concerns and interests of the majority of Texans, then we need two new Senators that will. (Concerns and interests are not the same thing as votes.)

(4,695 posts)shut down the government if he does not get what the GOP/he wanted, was evident to me. I believe that he will vote to not extend the Debt Ceiling. For my concerns, his extremism is way out in right field and not in the best interests of most Texans.
I hope that most Texans will follow the voting of the newly elected Senator from Texas.
