ROANOKE, Va. (WSET) — A Virginia State Senator in Central Virginia said he is hanging up his hat when it comes to service in Richmond.
Senator John S. Edwards, a democrat in the 21st District, announced Monday that he will not seek re-election for another four-year term this year.
Edwards was born in Roanoke and has served as a member of the Senate since 1996, serving on a variety of committees.
In 2019, Edwards won his seat decidedly in the district against Independent challenger Steven Nelson.
