Roanoke College Poll finds half of Virginians surveyed disagree with Trump and his policies

Half of Virginians surveyed this month by the Roanoke College Poll disapprove of Donald Trump's presidency so far, more than half disagree with his immigration policies and nearly half have an unfavorable view of him.
But those results, released Tuesday, vary sharply depending upon political affiliation. While 57 percent of those surveyed agreed the country had gotten off on the wrong track, among Democrats that figure was 86 percent compared with just 26 percent of Republicans.
And Republican readers probably don't believe this poll or news story anyway: the Roanoke College Poll found that while 42 percent of Virginians had a fair amount or great deal of confidence in mass media such as newspapers, TV and radio, only 13 percent of Republicans did. ... Moreover, 44 percent of Republicans had no confidence at all in the news media, and 73 percent of Republicans think the news coverage of Trump and his administration has been too tough, compared with 35 percent of Virginians overall.
The Institute for Policy and Opinion Research interviewed 616 Virginia residents for the latest Roanoke College Poll between Feb. 12 and Saturday. The poll has a margin of error of plus or minus 4 percentage points.

(29,274 posts)1. We are at a critical point in capturing the framing of this media integrity issue, and it's going to
be central to our efforts to retake our democracy. Many swing voters are seeing this crossfire and we have to be steadfast and persistently vocal in our efforts to draw clear lines, e.g., Sweden/Bowling Green, etc.
The Cons are working this angle hard, and the direction of the issue spread - i.e., media are the enemy (except Faux) vs media are legit and Faux is full of lies - will likely be in large part determinative of the success of our revolt.
Important to stay aware, thanks for posting this.

(182,877 posts)2. How many Virginians does it take to change a lightbulb?
Three
One to change it and two to "remembuh how good the oooold one was"
You can make it a Richmond joke by saying the two "pause the commiserate the end of an era"
