CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. (ABC) The U.S. Marine who marched with neo-Nazis in last summer's "Unite the Right" rally in Charlottesville, Virginia, has been found guilty in a summary court-martial after he reportedly bragged online about participating in the violence that day.
Lance Cpl. Vasillios Pistolis was convicted Monday of failing to obey an order or regulation and making a false official statement under Articles 92 and 107 in the Uniform Code of Military Justice, according to the 2nd Marine Logistics Group.
ProPublica first reported in May that Pistolis belonged to a white supremacist group and was found bragging online about the violence he carried out during the August rally, at which one demonstrator died.
He has been sentenced to 28 days of confinement, a reduction of two ranks to E-1, and the forfeiture of two-thirds of his pay for a month.

His Nazi buddies will welcome him. They could probably use some Marine Corps trained people in their ranks.

(4,407 posts)of when or how he is discharged. This penalty is not likely to make him less hateful, just more careful.

(13,188 posts)Since he was an E-4 (Corporal), I suspect he was at or near the end of his initial contract or early into his second.
Even if he had previously reenlisted you cannot remain in service as an E-1 Private for very long - certainly not as long as it took him to make Corporal. So he will be processed out administratively because he is past the high year of tenure for his grade. It's pretty standard for getting rid of dirtbags who have not been convicted of an offense that carries a Bad Conduct or Dishonorable Discharge as a listed penalty.
With that record I can't see how he could receive an honorable discharge but If he finished his term his discharge will not be downgraded below General. He will be coded as not fit for continued service - which would preclude his enlisting in another service or in the Guard and Reserves.
It is not ok to be a Nazi in the military, and they hit him as hard as they could on the crimes they can PROVE he committed...
On line bragging isn't automatically true - as we all know very well - So
