From WTVR TV
RICHMOND, Va. -- Kenneth Lawson, a 37-year-old father of five, was shot and killed early Christmas morning in Richmond, according to his family members.
Lawson, who owned a landscaping company, was inside the Wing Bar on East Main Street in Shockoe Bottom when a gunman opened fire at about 12:50 a.m. on Christmas morning.
Friends described him as caring, funny, and the kind of guy who made sure others around him were okay.
Richmond Police have not yet officially released the name of the shooting victim.

I am at a loss for words. I am angry reading this on Christmas Day, or any day actually. We must win elections and take action.

I'm as disgusted as you are.
All too often stories of shootings, especially of mass shootings which this was not, tend to focus on whether or not the guns were legally obtained. Legal, illegal, it's the fucking guns, asshole!
Were I in charge we'd be taking all guns away immediately. And for those of you who protest, "But what about the hunters?" here's my answer. The guns for hunting are kept in the Guns For Hunting save location. Your gun is kept there, registered for you. When hunting season opens and you have the appropriate license you check your gun out, along with some appropriate amount of ammunition. You go out, you hunt. If you make a kill, good for you. At the end you turn the gun and unused ammunition in. And no, your right to hunt has been in no way abrogated.
What I want to abrogate is someone's unfettered license to kill. In my opinion, my right (or someone else's right) to stay alive completely overrules your right to kill me.

(16,926 posts)that no politician understands this:
"In my opinion, my right (or someone else's right) to stay alive completely overrules your right to kill me."
Is it really the NRA money that makes the difference?
Truly, how can ANY politician stand there and NOT defend my right to live? Perhaps the money woes the NRA is going through will be the beginning of the end.
And another thing - why should ANY of this debate be going on after the tragedy at Sandy Hook?

No chance at the second two if worship of the (bleeping) second amendment has taken away the first one.
