Poulsbo to get new park preserve off Highway 305
POULSBO State officials plan in the coming months to hand off a chunk of property along Highway 305 to the city of Poulsbo, which sees the site as a future home for a simple park preserve.
The approximately 14-acre site, which sits on the west side of Highway 305 near its intersection with Bond Road, butts up against a pair of other properties the city owns: Betty Iverson Kiwanis Park and the mostly undeveloped Klingle Natural Area. Just across Bond Road is Fish Park.
As Mayor Becky Erickson describes it, the city is about to get its Central Park, a green belt filled with trees in the heart of a residential neighborhood filled with apartments and homes. She envisions walkways, paths and benches wandering through the area, which is marked mostly by trees, undergrowth and wetlands.
Its beautiful, Erickson said. Its not worth anything except for park land. We can never develop it. It makes a lot more sense for us to take it over and maintain it.
