Two Democrats enter race for Jared Mead's state House seat
EVERETT Two Democratic candidates have entered the race for a state House seat that will become vacant this fall.
Rep. Jared Mead, D-Mill Creek, is planning to leave state office after the November election. He was appointed to the Snohomish County Council last week and will serve in both positions through the fall, which is allowed under state law.
Anne Anderson of Lake Stevens announced her candidacy last month and plans to formally launch her campaign Friday. Due to the COVID-19 outbreak, it will be a virtual kickoff on the video conferencing platform Zoom.
Anderson is the executive director of Victim Support Services and former executive director of the Lake Stevens Community Food Bank.
April Berg of Mill Creek launched her campaign Tuesday. Berg serves on the Mill Creek Planning Commission and was elected to the Everett district school board in November.
