Seattle registers highest net gain in tech talent, CBRE study shows

The Seattle area led the country with the highest net percentage gain in tech talent, according to a CBRE study, which measured LinkedIn data from September 2019 to September 2020.

The study found Seattle had a net tech job gain of 6,575, a 7.6% change, and attributed that growth in part to the quality of life and high concentration of tech firms.

Seattle more than doubled Austin, the second-place finisher with 3.6%. The Bay Area came in third with 2.8%, followed by Denver with 2.4%.

“For the last four-plus years, Seattle has been one of the preferred North American destinations for tech talent," Michael Dash, vice chairman with CBRE in Seattle, said in a statement. "With the current level of migration to Seattle this past year from more expensive and established tech-centric markets, such as New York, the San Francisco Bay Area, Los Angeles and Boston, it reaffirms that Seattle will continue to be a place where technology companies will look to grow and expand."
