Median home sale prices across Eastside topped $1M in March
Rising mortgage rates, heightened buyer demand and plummeting inventory sent the for-sale housing market in much of Washington state to a new level of crazy last month.
Across the Eastside the median sales price of single-family homes topped $1 million, according to a report on March activity that the Northwest Multiple Listing Service's March report released Wednesday. The million-dollar threshold was breached in only two Seattle neighborhoods, Magnolia and Queen Anne.
In the four-county metro, prices rose between 14.5% in King County and 22% in Snohomish County compared with March 2020, while east of the Cascades in Kittitas County the median price soared 48%.
Last month was the first post-Covid/pre-Covid comparison, and that makes it "very difficult" to compare year-over-year results, said James Young, director of the Washington Center for Real Estate Research at the University of Washington.
