Puget Sound veterans react to U.S. withdrawing all troops from Afghanistan by Sept. 11

President Joe Biden's announcement to withdraw all remaining U.S. troops from Afghanistan hits home in Puget Sound.

KOMO News talked to several retired service members about what they think.

“We were the first striker brigade to go into Afghanistan,” said Mark Oravsky of Tacoma. He was an infantry solider with the U.S. Army.

Oravsky has mixed feelings about President Biden’s announcement to withdraw all U.S. troops from Afghanistan by Sept. 11.

“It’s long overdue that we get out of there but it's sad because so much damage and so many lives have been lost and so many lives have been impacted by us engaging to begin with,” Oravsky said.
