Sumner Prepares For White River Flooding
SUMNER, WA — The City of Sumner is warning residents to prepare for minor flooding along the White River Thursday evening.
According to the National Weather Service's latest predictions, the White River should see minor flooding starting around 9 p.m. Thursday— though there will be several hours of preamble as waters raise through the afternoon.
The City says to expect frequent offenders to flood, particularly the parking lot for the United Salad Co. along 45th St E.
City leaders say they hope to keep the Steward Road bridge open, but may need to reevaluate as the flooding arrives. The city is also watching State St. under the 410 for potential closures.
