WSDOT reportedly refused help from Kittitas County to clear snow from state roads
KITTITAS COUNTY, Wash. - Kittitas County says the Washington State Department of Transportation reportedly refused help from the county to clear roads during significant snowfall because the county does not require employees to be vaccinated.
Last week, Kittitas County got several feet of snow, blocking I-90 and Hwy 97 for three days, causing freight deliveries to be delayed and closing all of the state's major passes.
On Tuesday, the Kittitas County Department of Public Works reportedly offered assistance to clear state roadways but WSDOT said they could not accept the assistance because the county doesn't have a vaccine mandate.
During these times, we need to be able to put differences aside and work to support one another, said Kittitas County Commissioner Laura Osiadacz. It needs to be neighbors helping neighbors and lending a hand to get the work done.
