Seattle City Council moves forward with plans to revamp Third Avenue neighborhood

The Seattle City Council voted Tuesday to move forward with plans to revitalize Third Avenue, an area known as a somewhat problematic stretch of downtown.

The council discussed different ideas and approaches to make Third Avenue more welcoming and vibrant during their Tuesday session.

People who live and work near Third Avenue said they want to see the city focus first on making the area safe again.

"I think they are talking about revamping Third, but before they do any of that they need to make it safe," Sandro Kodama said. "It doesn't make it any better to have a more welcoming, or wider sidewalk if the city is not safe to walk around."
