Shoreline restaurant operating for over four decades a 'total loss' after fire

A Shoreline restaurant operating for over four decades is a total loss after a fire early Monday morning.

Suni's Pizza and Burgers, located at 17751 15th Ave NE in Shoreline, was destroyed in the fire, according to the Shoreline Fire Department. A spokesperson said the fire started on the outside of the restaurant and moved inside.

The family-owned restaurant, which has been operating since 1979, was considered a "total loss" due to the fire.

The spokesperson said the cause of the fire is under investigation.

Lived about a block from there back in the 80s. Good restaurant.

Somewhat suspicious that the fire started outside.

Suni’s Pizza and Burgers in Shoreline, the restaurant destroyed by a fire Monday, is now officially being investigated as an arson, according to police.

Shoreline Fire Department Battalion Chief Cameron Stewart said the fire appeared to start on the outside then spread to the interior of the restaurant located on the 17700 block of 15th Avenue Northeast near Northeast 180th Street. No one was inside the building when firefighters arrived.

Crews responded to the fire around 5 a.m. and got it under control before 7 a.m. One firefighter suffered a “very minor” injury while battling the fire, according to Stewart.

The restaurant’s website says the business has been open for 45 years. The building is now a total loss, according to Stewart.
