Lowland snow expected in western Washington Saturday night

Winter is not through with us yet. Following record breaking cold temperatures to end the workweek, western Washington is bracing for another round of lowland snow this weekend.

Temperatures were in the upper teens and lower 20s Saturday morning. While there is sunshine across most of the region, clouds will increase through the afternoon and moisture will move in Saturday night bringing snow to much of the lowlands.

The northern Olympic Peninsula, San Juans and Whatcom County are expected to be the first areas to see the flakes fly by dinnertime Saturday evening, according to KOMO News Meteorologist Kristin Clark. By late Saturday night, wet snow is expected along the I-5 corridor and at the Cascade passes.

The bulk of the lowland snow will be over by daybreak Sunday, but not before blanketing much of the area in 1-2 inches of accumulation. Exactly how much snow will vary be area and elevation.

snowed here (Hoquiam) Thursday. The yard is still snowed in, probably because we're in the middle of the forest. I hate snow but my cat and my son's dog seem to love it. I don't get it lol.
