Everett Housing Authority to hire contractor 'quite soon' for up to $800M development

The Everett Housing Authority is going big on its next development, the Park District.

"Big picture, we're targeting 1,500 mixed-income units," said Jason Morrow, the authority's director of development.

The Park District is planned for the approximately 12.5 acres where the World War II-era Baker Heights subsidized housing project operated until four years ago in the Delta neighborhood. Situated on top of a hill with mountain and water views, it seems an unlikely spot to build workforce housing, but looks can be deceiving.

Morrow said that for years Delta has been Snohomish County's lowest-income census tract.
