Bellevue police warn of crooks using trails to commit home burglaries

Bellevue police said they believe the same group of criminals is responsible for a series of home burglaries near trailheads and greenbelts throughout Puget Sound.

On the Eastside alone, police said there have been at least 16 of those burglaries since December.

In each case, police believe the bandits took separate cars to trails and then met up with one another on the pathways. Then in groups of three, they barged into nearby homes while the homeowners were gone.

"It makes it difficult for everyone because you don't have a suspicious vehicle coming in with people jumping out of the car," said Meeghan Black, Bellevue police. "You can't identify it or pinpoint it."
