"I know this lady. Her name is Tina Lewis, and she can help you get into a place." -- Facebook user

During the first three months of the year, a little-known Seattle-area program moved 423 people living in campers and cars into permanent housing.

That puts Street Level, a Salvation Army program, on track to move around 1,700 people out of rigs and into housing in 2023. That’s 700 more than the goal of the program, which addresses a huge problem: More than half of the people who sleep outside of shelters live in vehicles.

Tina Lewis built Street Level from the ground up, starting in January 2019 when she set out to move 32 people into housing that year. The program blew past that target, finding housing for 147 people.

By most measures, the program has been a success. But it is running low on cash, says Art Langlie, a Seattle businessman and longtime Salvation Army board member. He estimates the program needs around $700,000 to operate through the fiscal year, which ends Sept. 30.

support their program.

Seattle, Everett, King and Snohomish counties throw millions of dollars at various programs with very little to show for the effort.
I live in the area my wife and I have heard nothing about the success the SA is achieving.
