Best Employers In Washington: New Forbes List

SEATTLE, WA — Forbes has released a new list that identifies the best employers in Washington. Unlike Forbes’ annual list of the best employers in the country, the first-ever best employers by state ranking consists of a unique list for all 50 states and the District of Columbia.

Still, Forbes writes that some employers took the No.1 spot on many state lists. Costco Wholesale and Google took the most No.1 spots, according to Forbes. Boeing also featured in more than one No.1 spot, Forbes writes.

Two federal government agencies, the United States Department of Defense and the Department of Veteran Affairs, ranked on a number of state lists despite not being ranked nationally by Forbes.

According to Forbes, here are the top 10 best Washington employers:

Costco Wholesale, 163,000 employees, HQ in Issaquah

Google, 80,110 employees, major offices in Kirkland, Seattle (HQ in Mountain View, Calif.)

Boeing, 140,800 employees, major sites in Renton, Everett (HQ in Chicago)

Nordstrom, 72,500 employees, HQ in Seattle

University of Washington, HQ in Seattle

UW Medicine, 28,000 employees, HQ in Seattle

Starbucks, 185,000 employees, HQ in Seattle

Microsoft, 73,000 employees, HQ in Redmond

Paccar, 28,000 employees, HQ in Bellevue
