Poll: 62% of Wisconsinites do not the GAB changed
MADISON – A voting rights group is using a recent poll to try to drum up opposition on a proposal to switch the composition of the Wisconsin Government Accountability Board.
Our Democracy 2020 is touting a poll released last week by the North Carolina-based polling firm Public Policy Polling finding that 62% of Wisconsinites do not want to see changes to the Government Accountability Board. Only 12% of respondents indicated that they want to see to GAB have partisan representation. Currently, six retired non-partisan judges serve on the GAB.
Public Policy Polling is a Democratic polling firm. The survey was conducted from March 6th to the 8th with 1,071 Wisconsin voters responding. The breakdown of respondents were 34% each for Democrats and independents along with 32% for Republicans.
Our Democracy 2020 said: “The GAB has done the job it was created to do. Independently and without interference from the legislature. It’s clear from the poll that no one except some legislators are in favor of weakening the watchdog.”............
