Johnson-Feingold: The Long Senate race

In case you haven't noticed, the race between Democrat Russ Feingold and Republican U.S. Sen. Ron Johnson has been going on for a very long time.

It started back in May — that's May 2015 — when Feingold announced his candidacy. But in truth, it has been taking shape for a lot longer, ever since Johnson rode a tea party wave and ousted Feingold in 2010.

Now, on Labor Day, the traditional start to the fall campaign, the rematch is finally hitting its stride as voters zero in on one of the more compelling contests in the country, one that could determine which party holds the majority in the Senate.

From trade to security to the minimum wage, the two candidates are at opposite ends of the political spectrum. It is a classic right (Johnson) vs. left (Feingold) match.
