Able-bodied adults will have to work for Medicaid, under plan from Gov. Scott Walker, Trump

MADISON - Tens of thousands of needy but able-bodied adults in Wisconsin could have to work to qualify for state health coverage under a plan from Gov. Scott Walker that has won support from President Donald Trump's administration.

Walker immediately praised the move, which he said would spur more Wisconsinites to work and which critics said would spur lawsuits.

Seema Verma, head of the federal Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, opened the way this week for states to require "able-bodied, working-age Medicaid beneficiaries" to participate in skills training, education, job search, volunteering or caregiving.

“Medicaid needs to be more flexible so that states can best address the needs of this population," Verma said in a statement. "Our fundamental goal is to make a positive and lasting difference in the health and wellness of our beneficiaries."

do you find employment that pays a living wage. It is a trick because I know in the state of Washington if your income is more than $700.00 you are not able to get Medicade.

I knew a guy in Omaha ten years ago who was out of work and went on welfare, food stamps, etc.
One of the requirements for him was job training.

He learned to become a truck driver (semis) and now drives coast to coast.

So, for some, it could work out well.

And from what I found out was this, the Guy most likely worked for nothing until his Revenue covered a Certain Amount determined by his Owner which meant he most likely got a Ten dollar a day meal ticket and slept in the Truck. And assigned to Long Haul for several months with out a break.

Two Trucking Companies near Lake Pepin were notorious for this.

I'm completely ok with helping people with training, education, health care, housing etc. It's great it worked out for your friend. I'm just worried this is going to turn into a catch-22 for so many. I live in a tourist area and benefits here are based on the previous quarters wages. The first quarter after the season ends no one is making any money but they don't qualify for any aid. Makes things really difficult for so many families.

Where are these skills training places going to be located and who is paying for it? I know lots of folks who would like to attend college but can't afford it. She obviously has no idea about how so many folks live. Wonder how many of them voted for Twitler?
