Election ballot drop box back outside City Hall

WAUSAU, Wis. (WSAW) - The Wausau city clerk said Monday the official drop box is back outside of city hall and secured to the ground.

In a release sent to NewsChannel 7 City Clerk Kaitlyn Bernarde said people can use the drop box to “submit absentee ballots, payments, and other important city requests as was intended.”

Wausau Mayor Doug Diny removed the drop box from outside City Hall on Sunday, September 22, and shared a photo of himself using a dolly. The drop box was locked and no ballots were in it.

In a statement to NewsChannel 7 on Tuesday, September 24 Diny said, “I was working on Sunday in the office. The box was sitting unsecured on the sidewalk in front of city hall. I moved it to a safe location inside the building.”
