Was Tommy Thompson loaded for his acceptance speech?

In what seemed to be an amphetamine enhanced, inebriated rant that was more like a drunk at a ball game shooting off his mouth, Tommy Thompson kept repeating, "We need to take our country back." Really? Take it back from whom? The Republicon controlled House? The Senate that has a one vote Democratic majority which, thanks to Republicon filibustering, is no majority at all?
More likely, he wants to take the country back...to the fifties. Nineteen fiffty, eighteen fifty, hell, even seventeen fifty. Take it back to anytime the white ruling class had absolute power over everyone else.
His other little gem was, "God loves Republicons." Seriously? Yeah, I'm sure God wants Heaven filled with liars, cheats, thieves, hypocrites, and murderers. For the love of Christ Tommy, stop philandering, stop drinking, get your head out of your ass and think about what you're going to say before you say it.

heard that line four or five times. That was an odd speech. He wasn't on stage above the crowd, didn't look all that well organized. The thing is, that was a pretty nasty speech. A side of Tommy he hadn't shown before. Has the Tea Party movement changed him?
