Barrasso investigates Russian deal with Wyoming uranium facility

Senate Environment and Public Works Chairman John Barrasso yesterday requested documents related to the 2010 deal granting Russia control over some American uranium.

The Republican from Wyoming — the nation’s top uranium state — is conducting his own investigation into the Obama administration signing off on a Rosatom State Atomic Energy Corp. subsidiary taking control of Uranium One Inc., a Canadian firm with Wyoming operations.

Recent reporting revived the “scandal” that President Trump invokes to deflect criticism about his own Russian connections.

According to The Hill, Obama officials knew at the time of the deal that the FBI was probing a bribery racket that would lead to the 2015 conviction of a Kremlin-linked uranium executive (Greenwire, Oct. 26).

In 2016 this mine produced 23 tons of Uranium, 2% of US production. Domestic Russian production in 2015 was 3055 tons. The idea Russia bribed to increase their production a fraction of one percent seems implausible. The idea this deprives us of a critical mineral is dumb because if it is critical we can just seize it with eminent domain. And the theory is that donations to the Clinton Foundation are bribes. Page 7 of the online annual forms 990 show no one named Clinton has ever been paid even one cent by the Foundation. The paid preparersof form 990 are cpa firms which audit the books of the foundation. These firms get rich because big corporations hire them. If they get caught lying about the carefully scrutinized Clinton Foundation then IBM, Apple etc will fire them. Because investors will not believe reported profits if the CPA firm lies. So the preparers of forms 990 have massive economic incentive to be truthful when they say no one named Clinton has ever been paid even a penny. So how can a donation be a bribe if the money does not go to anyone named Clinton? Uranium One is one brain dead conspiracy theory.
