Ugh, and deep sigh

Dear Student Health and Welfare Bulletin subscribers

There is some evidence nationally of an increase in racist/xenophobic incidents since the referendum result and, sadly, this has been mirrored (locally) with both staff and students reporting experience of harassment from non-members of the University. As you may be a first port of call for concerned students, I wanted to make you aware of reporting mechanisms in the area:

· Anyone who is a victim of, or witness to, a hate crime is advised to contact the police (on 999, in an emergency, or 101, in a non-emergency, 24 hours a day).

· To report a hate crime in confidence, please contact the Hate Crime Network, 0300 1234 148 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555111

If you have any questions or concerns please do get in touch with me.

A version of this message has also been sent to harassment advisors. Apologies for any cross posting.

Best wishes

(Signed by university administrative staff member)

Good that people are taking it seriously; but horrible that it's becoming such a problem at all!

And I live in a place which voted to Remain by over 70%.

What a Pandora's box the politicians have opened!!!

I am also so sorry about any US policies or citizens that may have helped to open that box of horrors!

Once pried open, this abominable box of hostility and hatred cannot easily be slammed shut.

I cry my beloved Britain.
