That's how it was explained to me by an online acquaintance who is a junior doctor in the UK.
It's National Health trying to balance its decreased budget on the backs of women.
The Tories would love to end the National Health, so they keep underfunding it. This is the root cause of the strike.

(41,205 posts)that doctors now get from the government, is not unconnected with the fact that medicine is becoming an increasingly female profession.
I am not sure that all Tories wish to end the NHS (some do), but as with most public services, they want to give it as little funding as possible. And when combined with their making increasing demands on it, it becomes totally unrealistic. The government policies are harming patients more than the strikes are.

(14,738 posts).....then he has to obtain adequate funding to get the job done. The route the government is taking is the wrong one and my sympathies are entirely with the junior doctors.
