A word of advice to anybody having an affair with someone powerful ...

(no, this is not from personal experience)

and I am not limiting this to affairs with Repugniconvicts ...

Any DNA "samples" you obtain during this affair ... seal away in a plastic bag and freeze it.

In case anybody decides to drag your rep through the mud.

(blue dress, anyone?)

...and stipulate to "sexual contact" at the Speaker's divorce trial...

And then marry the Speaker, despite a huge age difference, convert him to Catholicism, make him declare publicly that his cheating days are done, and demand all sorts of jewelry from the pudgy old putz.

The problem, though, is that everyone knows what "someone" was up to under the Speaker's desk. It just makes it difficult to picture said "someone" as First Lady.

I'm still waiting for the pissed off staffers (who came to DC with Newt as "true believers" and were horribly disabused of their idealism) to come out of the woodwork, particularly the ones who, inadvertently, walked in on some of those shenanigans. I am quite sure they have some hair-curling tales.

Some of those people were really--and I mean really--pissed off. Not just his staffers, but some of the staffers from that group of "Contract on America" assholes he brought with him (it was actually called the Contract With America, but I always thought it was more like a mob hit, what he was planning).

I had to deal with some of them on occasion in the context of my work, and when stuff started unravelling, they weren't happy campers at all. Some of them--because they were such jerks and so damn mean to others--were finding doors slammed in their faces when they went looking for new jobs.

You know what they say about revenge...a dish best served cold?
