Friend brought her netbook over, she gave in to the reminders and got her "free" upgrade.
Connecting to wireless is a real pain, it screwed up her email, several other things won't work right.
Told her it's allegedly removable within 30 days of the upgrade. She said "Do it"
Started the process and after about half an hour it started going into a boot loop-been doing that for two hours now.
Looks like the only thing to do is wipe and start over.
At least her data files are on an external drive.
The hour I spent on 10 checking things out convinced me that it combines the worst features of Vista and 8 with added unfeatures.

(3,655 posts)but the biggest problem is that it invalidates your Win8 license if you don't uninstall before 30 days. I turned down the upgrade on my Win7 machine to Win8 for that reason. I'm running virtual PC on that one with virtual XP on it for older programs. I tried the replacement for virtual PC in Win8(Hyper V) and it didn't work well.

the 30 day time bomb is to "roll back" the upgrade (look for folders root of C:\ $Windows.~BT and $Windows.~WS folders, windows.old) ... most users I've read have experienced same troubles as hobbit709 (& more) rolling back. Better off doing clean re-install or in my case I re-imaged from backup. Your OEM license for 7 or 8 is still valid (on same hardware) & retail license as well, just not at same time you have active Windows 10 installed.
HTH.

(9,083 posts)I came to this forum to see what people had to say about Windows 10. Now I'm more convinced than ever that I'm NOT going to do the upgrade!

(41,694 posts)Somehow the 10 uninstall program that screwed up also hosed the original 7 restore partition.
Had to plug in external DVD drive with 7 install disk, completely wipe the drive and make new partitions to start over.
Finally got it up and running with 7 Home Premium x64 and installed all the drivers from Acer.
All I have left to do is copy her data files back onto her hard drive and finish installing all the programs so that she can use it.
Interesting side note: On Acer's website it does NOT list her model as conducive to Windows 10 upgrade.
