Firefox not downloading You Tube videos suddenly. Works in safe mode only,

Update your YouTube downloader Firefox extensions. Tools menu > Add-ons > "Gear" button > "Check for Updates". ... Update your Firefox browser or go back to previous Firefox version. Close and restart computer.

And this isable the Hardware Acceleration in Firefox.Scroll down and then under the Performance setting uncheck the "Use recommended performance settings" box and then uncheck the 'Use hardware acceleration when available" box. 3. Close and relaunch Firefox and try to play a video on YouTube.

Sadly still not working. having to use Chrome for YouTube. Strongly suggest not having automatic downloads checked for Firefox.

Thanks everyone for your help. I went back to the basics and took off all the add ons which I had done twice and tried it again and it worked this time. I was then able to add them back on one at a time and still worked. The people at DU are the best. Thanks a million.

Then I had similar problems. I found Chrome and Opera have worked fine for me for a couple years.

5. It is definitely Firefox because I tried another browser just now and YT is working there.

I like the way Firefox is set up on my computer and really want to keep it but will not be able to if I cannot watch You Tube.

ya know what ? We're gonna have to get used to it. No two computers are the same and no two websites are the same and no two internet providers are the same. It's amazing things work as well as they do. Wait a few weeks and try Firefox again. The probably will have another regular update.

I find that periodically, they all fail.

A switch to another usually solves that problem.

I have a few installed. Sometimes, on a given video, one will work and others won't.

19. That did not work. Nothing works. It is within the FF system but their suggestions do not

Perhaps if you reinstall FF, it will work better.

15. I've been using Easy Youtube Video Downloader Express with Firefox

It just updated today. It adds a "Download" button on YouTube pages.

I also have Video DownloadHelper which will also download YouTube videos, but I had problems with some videos being in formats that I could not view and Download Helper not having a converter for them. I still use it to download videos from other places.

17. Try To Open In Other Browser

Yeah, I have searched about this issue, many other sites are also suggesting to open youtube with all Browser's add-ons disabled, in your case, it's the safe mode on firefox. You can try other remedies from these articles to solve the problem.

18. thank you. I have disabled everything and still not working. Works in other browser & in safe mode.

This occurred after Firefox upgrade so I know it is internal for FF but cannot pinpoint and fix the problem.
