1. Unless you know how and have the patience to take it apart and clean them,

you may as well buy a new one. Usually it's dirt, grime, sodas, cookie crumbs, whatever, causing the sticking up under the keys.

You can try prying off the keys, gently one at a time, (take a pic first if you don't think you'll remember the return order), then clean away and reset them all.

3. Well you might invest in a can of compressed air instead.

Turn the keyboard upside down over a sheet of newspaper and start shaking it. You will be amazed at how much disgusting crap falls out.

Get some compressed air. With the keyboard upside down, blow the air into the spaces between keys and repeat the shake and bake. You will continue to be disgusted at the amazing amount of crap that continues to fall out.

This procedure usually unwedges the granola bar remnants that stuck your key. There is also a retail product that is sort of like silly putty, you push it into the keyboard and then lift it back out and it supposedly removes all the snot. I've never tried it. The compressed air works wonders.

6. is your keyboard wireless? you mentioned a battery...

a wireless keyboard can run you $20-$50.

A new USB keyboard runs $10-$15

Compressed air, maybe $5

If you don't need wireless, go cheap and get the USB board.
