Anyone else having Yahoo email problems, Code 205.2 [LU003]?

Anyone with a good solution? ATT is about as helpful as nothing. They to wait 24 hours and try logging in again. As some know, I am hearing impaired and not having email is a disaster in my life. Along with texting, it is my only method of communication with people I must have contact with.

All help will be greatly appreciated!

1. Question: are you able to login ?

1. Does the login page appear?
2. Are you able to login successfully?

If there is an ATT store near you, go there in person.

Additionally, I suggest to create a new email account with either Google Gmail or Apple iCloud. I myself recommend Apple because there are stores to visit.

3. Login page appears, but states I have made too many attempts even after one try.

If I reset my password, it starts all over again. There are several websites discussing this. It appears that AT&T knows of the problem but just has a script to tell people to re-set the password. This goes on every day all day long.

6. My experience is limited. I tend to believe the stores have an extra trick

( people to contact).

7. Reading the ATT/Yahoo forums,

it seems to be a server problem with ATT and they are well aware of it. Has been going on for about 7 months or so...only hit me a few weeks ago.

4. Worked find for me for 17 years and then WHAM!

It appears to not be an isolated problem and I was hoping someone on the DU had had the problem and found a way to get around it. I can only get into my email on one desktop, not the other one, and not on my iPhone.

5. I just checked and my Yahoo mail is OK

Earlier last night (about 04:30 AM Eastern) there was some problem with Cloudflare which caused a large number of websites (including DU and RS) to be unreachable for a while. That seems to have been corrected now.

8. Having problems as of today

First thing to load in my email is an ad at the top of my list of emails, until that ad loads I can’t get my new emails … no ad will load, so can’t see new emails
I can see it says I have 4 new emails, but they aren’t in my list either
Last nite I checked and had 2 emails unread, was going to read them eventually, but left them unread

Today the are no longer shown as unread … I didn’t open them to read

So can’t get new mail to load so far today … something is up with yahoo

9. Found this long thread on the ATT forum ... fyi.

Just fyi, some info about what that code means:

https://forums.att.com/conversations/att-mail-login-security/help-with-care-code-2052-lu003/5eebfd6a6880ca6501d96b38

I'd suggest trying to access your mail via a different path. E.g. if you're using a mail reading program, try
logging in with a web browser and read it there. Or if you normally use a browser, try reading it with a
mail program on your phone or computer.

Fyi my mother has an SBCGlobal account that was working fine with Mail.app on an old Mac. But then
they recently changed the servers and she can now only access it from her (new) iPhone or from the
web server. I wasn't able to get the old Mail.app program on her ancient iMac to work.

Checking in and trying different browsers. Same result. What is an mail reading program?

11. Mail reading programs

On the iPhone and on the Mac there is a program called "Mail" that you can use to get to your mail. You configure it to tell it about the servers and your login information.

Or ... you can use a normal web browser to connect to their server and use their web interface to read (and send) mail.

Basically the "Mail" applications are designed to be faster and offer more features than using the simple web interface, but are slightly more difficult to configure -- since you have to tell it your login information and info about the mail servers.

And my point was that ... sometimes ... the application will work when the browser does not ... or vice-versa.

There are applications for Windows and Android called "Mail" along with lots of third party applications that offer similar features.

13. From the thread ...

This quote from the AT&T forum ...

@TryGmail so I got it fixed.... I chatted with customer support and they were great. They reset my account and sent me a temp password. It didn't work the first time, but the second time we finally got it to work.

It looks like the error "Code 205.2 [LU003]" basically says that you've been locked out of your account for 24 hours because of excessive failures.

So yeah, I think you need to either wait 24hrs for the timer to expire so you can try again, or find someone in AT&T customer support that is willing to reset the account and not make you wait.

This all seems like a really bad policy ... e.g. I could just try (and fail) to login to someone else's account and lock them out of it!?

Anyway, suggest you try again to get a customer support person to do their job and not assume it will fix itself in 24 hours. That they need to reset the password and let you in right away

Oh, and then eventually move your email to another provider. AT&T/Yahoo are basically idiots.

14. Been there and have done that. Last wait time was 72 hours.

From what I am reading, it seems that ATT is simply having their account people read a script.
