Should I uninstall Office 365 from my new computer?

My new computer has Windows 11 on it, and has Office software pre-installed, sort of. If I launch Word or Excel, it brings up a screen explaining that if I give them a credit card number, the software will be activated and the subscription will start.

If all I want is to install Libre Office (sp?) or my old copy of Office 2013 on this machine, do I need to uninstall the current Office Ad-ware first?

Fortunately, I have recent copies of all important files, as my previous computer is on its last legs.

I'm not sure of the Windows 11 path to control panel, but maybe a taskbar search will lead you to it. From there you can locate the programs option and select Uninstall. You'll get a Window listing installed apps and programs. Office will be listed. Select and choose Uninstaller. You'll likely need to restart after.

But I won't try it tonight. It was a two-wine supper.

Thanks for the hints.

Will MS Office 2013 work on Windows 11?

Office 2013 is compatible with Windows 7, Windows Server 2008 R2 through Windows 10 and Windows Server 2019. A version of Office 2013 comes included on Windows RT devices. It is not supported on Windows 11 or Windows Server 2022.

From your second link ...

‘Not Supported’ does NOT mean Office won’t work

That doesn’t mean those versions of Office won’t work, just that Microsoft doesn’t recommend it and won’t help if you try. There’s no harm in trying. "

I am running Office 2010 under Windows 11 without any difficulty.

Office 2013 is just a worse version of Office 2010.

I also use Linux for the OS but it does have seemingly unsolvable issues with Acrobat.

... in the end, I uninstalled Office 365 and downloaded/installed Office Libre. It has handled a few of my spreadsheets and word documents with no problem.

A lot of good ideas arose in this group, this thread.

Regards
