So I installed the Firefox update a few days ago...
...and ever since, I've been getting periodic pop-up windows trying to get me to do a multitude of surveys.
Which is extremely annoying.
Anybody else experience this, or have a fix to stop it from happening?
Oh yeah, also, I now have this thing where certain words on web pages are hyperlinked to advertisements or something...which I also don't appreciate.
If anybody knows how to get rid of these, I'd appreciate learning how.
Thanks in advance.

...on the same day as the Firefox update. It's some kind of gaming thing, I don't play games on my computer, not into them at all.
So far, I notice that the hyperlinked-to-ads-on-random-words-on-a-web-page annoyance has gone away.
I'm waiting now to see if I get the pop-up surveys, so far, so good.
Thanks Pharaoh!
On edit: It's been an hour now, no more pop-ups.
Thanks again, Pharaoh!

(3,655 posts)I'm getting the same with Maxthon. I think more sites are just turning to surveys to evaluate themselves.

(5,312 posts)...to Pharaoh, it seems Pharaoh's advice may have done the trick, so you may want to try the fix as well.

(3,655 posts)I don't allow those other things to install. The survey I was dealing with were legit ones by the owners of the site. It sounds like you had a spam server installed somewhere along the way. Be careful when you install anything. Choose the "custom" install option if you can to avoid addition programs being installed and read the agreements before installing.
