Ok, looks like you're dealing with one of these? http://www.amazon.com/ASUS-MeMO-ME172V-A1-GR-7-0-Inch-Tablet/dp/B00BDS25VA

If so, it is running a fairly recent version of Android (good) on a meh processor (not so good), but has an SD slot for more storage to be added (darn useful).

The first hurdle is getting the music from physical to data. Honestly? I use Windows Media Player to rip to MP3 format. But, I do not know what your home computing environment is. I can go find something for Apple if needed.

From there I hope it is as simple as plugging the tablet into your computer and dragging the MP3's over to a folder (Internal Storage -> Music) on the tablet. If not, ask about moving the files to the SD card.

And, depending on just how deep into the Google thicket he wants to go, he could upload his music to the google cloud through Music Manager. But, that only makes it cloud available, not offline available.

But then again, my kids tell me I sound condescending, so how would I know?

Thanks for your thorough explanation. I have passed it to the spouse. I got myself an Asus transformer prime tablet so I may get around to using this myself!
THANK YOU!!!
