Threat name.....

Suf.Exploit.CVE_2013 Has anyone seen this on their Mac? The help lines all say it can only mess with windows so don't bother doing anything. Sophos says it's an issue but not a threat. ClamXav has detected it and sent it to the trash. Is that all I need to do? Secure empty trash?

1. ClamXav is all I've ever needed, but one never knows.

Please let us know what you learn.

I get more grief from browser hijacking malware.

2. PS, my quick search suggests that it's a PC problem, not Mac.

Which isn't to say that it can't do harm, but just that it seems to have been designed as a Trojan with PCs in mind.

We can pick these up but nothing happens.

Did you have any symptoms, or did you just find it with ClamXav?

3. My computer just went to a white screen,

I was on Safari and looking at pictures on Pintrest when the white screen happened. I couldn't make anything open so I did a force quit and then opened ClamXav and Sophos and set them to work. My iMac has been a little sloppy about some things but nothing to worry me. That white screen is something I had never seen or heard of. I did get a message that Safari & Google were having a issues....? Not playing well together.
What would you suggest for a program to run in the background to scan for bugs, virus and whatever else is out there?

4. Sorry, no recommendations

For an "always running" app.

Hopefully someone else will advise.

5. It's all good.

I just loaded the ClamXav with Sentry from their home page rather that the version from the Apple app store and re-scanned. ( the app store app doesn't have 'Sentry' for some reason) It gave an 'all clear' so moving Suf.Exploit.CVE to the trash and doing a 'secure empty' must have worked. Now I just have to figure out how to set the 'Sentry' in motion.

Thank you for such a quick response.
