I call it the redneck evangelicalism confederate mentality. Palin practices it the best, along with crazy-eyed Bachmann and the fools lap the lies up as gospel.

The majority of the GOP are just like the pharisees with their self-righteous, sanctimonious filthy lies. I don't know how they can live with themselves...........

and I don't mean the gospels...I mean they are raised to NOT question authority. They know that lies are being told them to uphold their religious beliefs by their pastors all their lives.....they are told and they believe that those lies are all for the goal of keeping the faith. That their belief in their particular brand of Christianity is what is most important so questioning is not allowed. Therefore they do what they do without a second thought about what it means....they don't ever second guess.

I was brought up in a non-denominational fundamentalist church w/rules out the yin-yan. So I get that sorry mentality. You said it perfectly. It all stems from fear and lack of self-esteem.

and a deep, loving man, with true patriotism, who wants only the best for us, no matter our party affiliation.

I know I will never measure up to the ideals President Obama lives by. He is by far, a better person than any of us can hope to achieve being.

The story recently about how he showed respect and compassion to the Newtown families--that struck me to the core. Gave me a real life example to aspire to.

Shakyamuni Buddha said the greatness of the buddha lies in his behavior as a human being. No deities that humans can only worship and beg favors from but never emulate. Only human beings and our moment by moment decisions to act for the better or the worse.

it, Blanche?

So if I'm coming from anger, I will only engender more anger.

Your post brought me up short, because I am feeling lot's of anger tonight. From the crappy politics and from a family to-do, as well.... Thank you.

Thank you for the words of Shakyamuni Buddha.

I may not always agree with him and sometimes wish he would get angry and fight a little more but Hell, I do that all the time and usually just end up frustrated and having accomplished nothing. So your last sentence really resonates with me - he is a far better person than I could ever hope to become.

I have some disappointments about him as well. But that doesn't keep me from realizing the sort of man he is. And he still has a few years left. It would not be the first time he surprises us with something cool.....

I love how he handled the ugly Syria chemical warfare! But do we hear any praise for him over that? Hell, no...................

you know, that is how I feel too, but another yaknow....

...I don't think he would feel that way about Us. I don't think he feels above anyone. That's another reason I really like him. He isn't about ego much at all, he is about the well being of the group more than thinking about himself.

I've been wondering why there are SO many dunces out there right now ... and why they are so anxiously working together.
