Cat survives gas chamber twice

WEST VALLEY CITY, Utah -- A stray cat that survived two trips to a Utah animal shelter's gas chamber now has a new home.

Officials at West Valley City's animal shelter in Utah say the cat named Andrea hadn't been adopted for 30 days when shelter officials tried to put her to death in October. She survived, so they gassed her again.

I have a feeling, all you would have to do is tell me that this cat survived one time in the gas chamber, and I would have had another cat in my life.

I'm glad she has a new home. This makes me even more grateful that my county shelter is a no-kill shelter now. They kept my deaf dog for months before I found her and she was chosen to be in their calendar this year. After I bought a bunch of calendars to give as Christmas presents, I saw that there was another one who was chosen for the calendar who was at the shelter for 2 1/2 years before being adopted. There are a lot of things wrong with this place, but our animal control/shelter isn't one of them, the people there are very dedicated and absolutely amazing.
