Hillary Clinton: Why My Granddaughter Charlotte Inspired My Presidential Campaign

http://www.usmagazine.com/celebrity-news/news/hillary-clintons-talks-granddaughter-presidential-campaign-w203824

Again, for fun ... !

In an exclusive cover story interview for the latest issue of Us Weekly, the former First Lady, New York Senator and Secretary of State opens up about how her 18-month-old granddaughter, Charlotte, has inspired her current presidential campaign — as Us Weekly‘s Christina Garibaldi and Ian Drew discuss in the video above.

“Having this wonderful little person in your life makes you think about the future in a whole new way,” the Oval Office hopeful, 68, tells Us of 36-year-old daughter Chelsea’s first child with husband Marc Mezvinsky.

“Being a grandmother is the most amazing experience. And, of course, when you have the most amazing 18-month-old granddaughter, it’s even better,” the Chicago native continues. “I arrange my campaign schedule around seeing Charlotte, and one of the highlights of the last year was getting the chance to have Chelsea, Marc and Charlotte on the campaign trail with me.”

As a very proud grandmom myself, I understand how Hillary feels. Like her, I want a better future for them all and I KNOW that Hillary will work her hardest for that better future.

Hillary has a right to be proud.

I actually met Chelsea briefly in the summer of 2002. She was working as an intern at WHO in Geneva, Switzerland and graciously stood in the receiving line at the US Mission in Geneva while it hosted a Fourth of July barbecue. She would have been all of 22 at the time and was still a poised young woman who knew how to "make the right noises."

The organization where I worked was not far from WHO. That summer, many of my much younger colleagues would make it a point to lunch at the WHO cafeteria in the hopes of spotting Chelsea there. Former President Clinton was much admired in the international community and seeing his daughter was a sort of vicarious validation.

Even after the horrors of 9-11, we were ALL much more innocent and trusting in the summer of 2002 than we ever would be again.

here is a sweet picture of Chelsea and Charlotte. Hillary must be very happy because the second grandbaby is on the way! Charlotte will be a big sister.

I am a great aunt again. When I saw her beautiful face yesterday, I melted. She is who I fight for.

And yes, they all do tend to make us melt - especially when they're so little!

My youngest grandson (5) made me a "necklace" two weekends ago, placed it around my neck, and requested that I leave it on. I have done as he asked.

It will likely stay on until it wears out completely.

Yet a great aunt for the 5th time ages 9-1 week. Love them all.

Hey Blue, you love that necklace and where it with pride. You are a beautiful grandparent.
Kudos to you and yours. Our future. So grand!
