Sad and pathetic

So I ventured into enemy territory - yes, enemy, since I was banned for thanking someone while identifying myself as a Clinton supporters.

And I ran into this thread

http://www.democraticunderground.com/1280206561

They complain that Skinner "has been here too long?" who do they think started and own this place?

Yes, I have had complains about how this site runs but basically I conclude that this is his site and if I don't like it I can go someplace else.

Or, as site hosts often say: you can start your own board..

After all, it's the traffic from the horde that's filling his coffers. But instead, I've seen multiple comments about how "both sides do it" as if this is all taking place inside a vacuum, instead of being a clear case of a pro-Democratic Party minority trying to defend itself from outsiders intent on destroying everything we've achieved. So much anti-Democrat nonsense is not just allowed now, but almost encouraged. The Fox News articles allowed to stand on main forum pages, the constant drumbeat of every tired and worn-out anti-Clinton narrative the GOP ever tried to peddle, the abandoned jury system turned into a hatchet against other members. None of it makes any sense to me.

The primary is where the party is supposed to decide itself, and the general election is where the party is supposed to unite against the opposition that is the antithesis of all that we believe in, whether one considers themselves liberal or progressive. Instead, with the primary effectively decided months ago, Clinton supporters on DU have had to put up with being alert-stalked, shoved into "under review" silence, and in some cases, PPR'd just for standing up to the bullies who attack us here.

He's the owner, and it's his site. I may not agree with his decisions but I will certainly abide by them. I'm just a visitor, after all. We all are. However, this is my opinion, and I don't see anything happening to change it short of an open admission that Clinton supporters were allowed to be attacked all in the name of maintaining an artificial sense of civility that I've actually never seen practiced here since I joined.

I've been here through three presidential primary seasons and this one has been the worst. It has been the worst country wide and I blame "social media." Not only Trump continuing twitting, but any word that anyone says, any gesture, is immediately posted, transmitted and analyzed.

I think that Skinner et al realized that they have created a monster with the jury system - some aspects - but did not want to change it in the middle of the primaries which I can understand.

I don't think that he realized how "unsafe" these safe places are, when the Sanderistas can chase us here, alert and hide our posts.

As for Fox news stories, I think that some of them are... news, just as the CNN and the MSNBC and the other networks are.

And, sometimes we need to know what the other side thinks so it can help us. Having a groupthink, even in a place like that cannot help, especially if there are DUers who are candidates for office in their hometown.

Many of us complained about the imbalance about hiding Sanders and Clinton posts and I think he realized it, but refused to intervene the way a teacher does in a kindergarten.

Thus... we will have to trust him that the changes will be real. An earlier system, where a moderator - not a host - could lock and suspend a member, often arbitrarily, was worse.

And, as you so well pointed out - we are guests here.

I don't really care. I didn't like being called an anti-Semite for no reason at all. Admin was of no use to me in that situation. I won't ever bother again.

I do like the format and the folks in the Hillary Group. I can't contribute $$$ because I feel better giving money to well moderated Democratic sites.

I can't imagine trying to force the owner of this site to do anything. It belongs to him.

And I tried running a message board once before I found DU. It had a whopping 11 members and even then it was a huge pain in the ass with all the bickering and bullshit. I can only imagine what it takes to run this joint.

Although I will admit one side has done it a hell of a lot more & the Admins NOT using the ban hammer has showed much restraint.

I'm willing to reserve the right to voice my opinion until June 16th as everyone else should do as well. I mean seriously how can someone complain about something they have not seen in action?

Before they actually see the results, they play the victim just as they do in primary contest where their candidate isn't doing well.

They are the most self absorbed, it is never enough, spoiled, foul mouthed, narrow minded, ungrateful, pity partying, demanding, complaining, selfish, ill mannered, entitled bunch of thin skinned whining childish bullies I've encountered in a long time.

Skinner is our host and he owns the site. His house, his rules. It is the same with their attitude toward the Democrats. They crash a party and insult the hosts. These people are the reason we cannot have nice things. If they want to start and run a website or a political party with their own ideology, go for it. They have no clue about the enormity of the enterprise. It is beyond the scope of anything they can imagine and certainly would not leave room for them to whine endlessly. Based on their churlish and self absorbed instincts, neither would ever get off the ground.

I am incredibly grateful to have a place to share common goals with other Democrats and truly appreciate all the work the owners of the site have gone to to make that possible. It is a shame that the amount of real estate within the site in which it is possible to do that has become so small.

Sorry for the rant but I am just so over the trashing of this site and the Party.

Thank you to the owners and to all the people in the groups where Democrats are still allowed to prevail.

Love ya!
