Hillary Clinton
Related: About this forumThis Photo of Hillary May Surprise You... But It Really Shouldn't
This photo, taken last month in the backyard of an Iowa State Senator, was posted to the official Hillary for Iowa Facebook page on Saturday.
A voter describes the scene:
"It was Hillarys interaction with my kids. We were in Liz Mathis' backyard, and we went up to greet her. I couldnt believe how my seven-year-old was acting with herswinging her arm, hanging on her. He doesnt do that with strangers. I was thinking, 'What are you thinking?! Its Hillary Clinton!'
So as were standing there taking our picture with her, I said: 'We believe in you, and were here with you a hundred percent. What youve done for healthcare, womens issues, childrens issuesand she turned to me, and she put her hands on my kids, Sydnei and Fayde, and she said Im doing it for them.' And I started crying.
As we're walking away, I turn aroundand theres Hillary and Fayde, laughing. She said 'are you ticklish? and he said 'only in my armpits.' Then they were tickling. And he goes, with his tongue out:
'Boo-yah.'
I couldnt believe it."

When looking at the entirety of Hillary Clinton's life and accomplishments, the most obvious common thread is her passionate advocacy for children and families.

(15,438 posts)It'll come in handy against a Teapublican House when she's elected president and we take back the Senate.
If the rumor I've heard on MSNBC is true, she takes no prisoners.
The rumor I'm referring to was at the time she was interviewed by the Senate committee for the SoS position and Senator Cornyn was the sole person on that committee that withheld his vote. When they had a recess and she walked out the chamber and passed him as he stood by the door, she said to him, "The Clintons have long memories. Don't mess with us". Lo and behold! When they returned, Cornyn voted Yea. If this is true, she's going to be less congenial with them than President Obama (always the gentleman and statesman) has been. She's a bare-knuckles fighter!

(298,453 posts)scale and will continue her advocacy when she's in the White House.
Grew AR Children's Hospital to one of nation's 10 largest
Hillary cofounded the Arkansas Advocates for Children and Families; served on the board of our Children's Hospital and helped with its fund-raising drive (it became one of the nation's ten largest children's hospitals in a state with o 2.8 million people); brought an excellent preschool program form Israel to poor families in our state; headed a task force that increased access to health care for people in small towns and rural areas; and chaired a committee that level standards for our schools.
Hillary did the things she did because she wanted to make a difference. And she did then because it made her happy to see another baby in a small town get health care, another young child smiling at her pre ceremony, another student from a rural area become the first in his family to go to college, another woman break through the glass ceiling at a law firm.

(244 posts)they start with the "AWWWW" stuff like this photo to "prove" how much they care....it's the ole politicians kissing a baby routine. Man HRC supporters must really be getting desperate when they have to stoop this low.

(6,785 posts)It doesn't look like the politician kissing a baby routine because she actually looks happy to be interacting with them. If she's doing it for a photo-op and doesn't care for or like kids, Hollywood missed out on one of the greatest actors of our time. With the kissing kids pictures, the phoniness shines through. You can always tell the man/woman would rather be literally anywhere else at that moment. I couldn't look that happy to be touching a kid if you promised me a billion dollars and to make me Emperor of the Galaxy.
I'm neither a kid fan nor a Hillary fan, but it is a good picture that you can tell she's genuinely happy in. She's a politician, not a monster. It's good to have humanizing moments like these broadcast, to remind people of that sometimes.
