Hillary Clinton
Related: About this forumI for one welcome a democratic debate which would focus on #BLM.
Sure this isn't a one issue campaign but we (as Hillary supporters) now been accused of "not wanting" a BLM debate.
This is an important issue and it should be brought up, and I have no problem admitting that.
False accusations suck.

(3,580 posts)It's time. We have to do this. Equality for all people in this country is my biggest issue. It didn't start that way but the blm activists as well as other groups have helped me to sharpen my focus. If they can push the dem party to a debate to address black lives in this country I'm all for it.
I support Hillary. She's not my sister or idol. So I don't take it personally if she is criticized for actual things and not made up spin. I expect her to do better. My allegiance is to my black brothers and sisters, not a candidate so yes, have the debate.
And I agree. I also believe that Hillary will be our next president and that it is important to keep pushing her on this issue. And frankly, in this debate I am pretty sure that Hillary might say some things I don't like. But I see her as someone who can be persuaded and also as someone who understands the obstacles and who can analyze and actively push against them. This is the positive side of changing positions, in my opinion. It means that you have been willing to examine and challenge your own thinking and your own assumptions. I am suspicious of people who purport to be perfect and unchanging on inequality and injustice, especially when they also believe that having the "right" opinion for a long time is the only measure of sincerity and effectiveness.
