Poll Shows Hillary Clinton Maintaining Lead Over Bernie Sanders

Despite a month of sharpened attacks, Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont has failed to significantly dent Hillary Rodham Clinton’s lead in the Democratic presidential race, according to a New York Times/CBS News survey released on Thursday.

Mrs. Clinton has support from 52 percent of Democratic primary voters, while Mr. Sanders has backing from 33 percent, the poll found. In an early October CBS News poll, she led Mr. Sanders 56 percent to 32 percent................

............But Mrs. Clinton enjoys a firmer base of voters than Mr. Sanders, according to the poll. Fifty-four percent of her supporters said their minds were completely made up, while 58 percent of Mr. Sanders’s supporters said they had not made a final decision.

And 43 percent of Democrats said they would enthusiastically support Mrs. Clinton as their presidential nominee, compared to 35 percent for Mr. Sanders. Slim majorities of women, nonwhites and older voters said they would enthusiastically back Mrs. Clinton as the party’s choice, while just three in 10 male Democrats said they would feel that way about her as their standard-bearer in 2016...........

2. So. The blowback on these polls is that in 2007-08 HRC had the same lead over PBO

To which I say: apples and oranges yes, but the bigger point is: that is the worst thing a SBS supporter could point to, because the majority of people who voted for PBO are now Clinton voters. She may have been their second choice then and is their first choice now.

Also, of all the "also rans" in that race: are any of them still in politics? More to the point, did any of them serve a cabinet position?

sign of no recovery. I am looking forward to the next debates, I expect Clinton will do even better in those. She is on a roll.

4. The lead is shrinking...isn't it....and what about the trend...or the online polls, etc., etc. Sad.

Instead of denying the obvious and attacking Clinton as if the RW is not doing a good enough job, how about Sanders start talking gun control, foreign policy on Palestine, near to the progressive heart also, and a detailed economic plan instead of playing Grumpy Cat and shouting income equality and "oligarths" every second word?

By the way, The Progressive Caucus of the Democratic Party has had an excellent and detailed economic plan out there for years.....first candidate to adopt that actual PLAN.....might win the race.

Would win me over.

Democrats are like everyone else - we dream of our ideals!

But as they say in AA, "We strive for progress - not perfection!"

But yes, I realize that some here who also support Bernie are taking things too far, especially when it comes to Hillary-bashing, which does the party no good whatsoever

11. You should probably tell them that a poll "this far out" doesn't mean that BS will be elected POTUS.

No one is attacking him yet, because he's not seen as a threat. According to the BS'ers, he's got time to make up ground much need ground among Democratic primary voters, even though the first primaries are only weeks away. So it stands to reason that Hillary, who will almost certainly be our nominee, has a lot more time between any polling being done now, and the time the general election rolls around.

most interesting. However, if he chooses to go that route, I predict he will become even less of a threat to HRC than he is now, and that ain't much.
