Bernie-Backing Liberal Group Apologizes For Saying Hillary “Won The Confederacy”-HRC Room

Evan McMorris-Santoro

Under a barrage of criticism from Democrats, a progressive group supporting Bernie Sanders for president has retracted, and apologized for, describing Hillary Clinton’s victories in the South as winning “the Confederacy.”

And that their vote should count less. Rather telling on their part.

That was the entire post. There is a very obvious pattern occurring & it's not just blacks that are noticing it.

It's like they're saying that in states that traditionally disenfranchised those who now are the majority of Democrats, those Democrats no longer count. To heck with historical disenfranchisement of minority voters in Southern states, since they voted for Hillary, their votes shouldn't count. After all, it's their own fault for living in states that seceded from the Union.

For some reason, that narrative reminds me of something, something about people born in poverty and bootstraps and it being their own fault they are poor, but what do I know? I'm just a Hillary supporter

Racist in what they said about minority voters in many states ( the backbone of the party!) and tea party-like in their rush to support disenfranchisement of those who didn't vote like them.

As I white woman, I know perfectly well that I shouldn't speak too loudly about the voting block to which I belong - too often the majority of white women vote republican. Black women consistently vote Dem, and the Bernie supporters dare call black women low information voters and suggest a huge number of them should be disenfranchised because of where they live? We'd do better to deny white men and women the right to vote! (Only not, because real democrats aren't teapublicans.)

I pointed out that Dixiecrats ceased to exist with Nixon's Southern strategy, and that Democrats in the South now consist of African Americans and non-racist whites.

To which I predictably received no answer.

1) The middle class is shrinking.

2) It's outrageous that in the richest country in the world (fill in the blank)

3) College tuition should be free. Everyone should have a chance to go to college.

4) I voted against the Iraq War! (Notice: he doesn't say, "I voted against the resolution that gave the president the power to declare war" - in the script, he voted against the war itself).

Once you stray out of that territory....problems cease to exist.

Bernie better have a plan for winning at least 2 Southern states to be a viable nominee.
