Bolivia Seizes 11 Tonnes Of Cocaine
LA PAZ, July 22 (BERNAMA-NNN-XINHUA) -- More than 11 tonnes of cocaine were seized and over 64 tonnes of marijuana destroyed in Bolivia in the first half of 2013, a government official said Sunday.
The results showed that Bolivia has not given up its efforts in drug-fighting, the Bolivian Information Agency quoted Vice Minister of Social Defence and Controlled Substances Felipe Caceres as saying.
Caceres said the achievements were made with less cooperation and logistic support from the United States, which has built the Joint Task Force with Bolivia.
Bolivia and the United States have previously coordinated in the fight against drug-trafficking. But "anyway, they did not certify our work," Caceres said.
However, Caceres also said that the Joint Task Force of the two countries will continue to work in the eradication of illegal coca plant in regions where it is not allowed, adding that under no circumstances can new producers nor crops be tolerated.
