Maduro to hand China keys to Tower of David slum skyscraper

http://panampost.com/marcela-estrada/2014/07/11/maduro-to-hand-china-keys-to-tower-of-david-slum-skyscraper/

The Tower of David, the world’s tallest vertical slum, is nearing the end of its days. A Chinese consortium has reached an agreement with Venezuela’s central government that will lead to the eventual evacuation of the invaded building.

The question is, what will happen to all the families living there? People have been living there for 7 years now, so it's likely they won't just pack their things and leave quietly. Will they be given those dignified homes the government boasts about so much?

It's quite apparent from the nature of your posts and your hostility towards me, after all.

4. Where'd you get the idea I wasn't caring?

The fact that I disagree with the policies of a government that is essentially ruining the economy of my home country? Methinks you judge one from knowing too little about them. It's in my interests that poverty in the country where I was born and raised in is reduced, and that people actually have access to good quality life, without being under the control of an ideologically extremist band of delinquents running things, and that things actually progress there. You're the one who's trying to make it personal and antagonize me when I never said anything which would imply that I have something against poor people. All I've ever expressed is my disagreement and disdain with a regime that is slowly bringing economic doom to a country which has all the potential to be the most developed nation in the world, but instead, with the Chavista ideology, things are only regressing. If you can't see that, well, too bad for you. I actually speak the language of Venezuela, am Venezuelan myself, and get my news and information from sources based in Venezuela, and I still revisit the country from time to time, where I see things as they are with my own eyes. All you have are a bunch of propaganda sites. Tell me again, why I should care about anything you say to try to degrade me?

Very few turn up their noses at chilled peaches and cream, on a summer day.

Gotta appease the new Chinese overlords, ya know?

12. Looks like Mr. Villegas spoke too soon when he said this back in May (link with video)

http://www.canalntn24.com/video/ernesto-villegas-victima-de-sus-propias-palabras-sobre-un-posible-desalojo-en-la-torre-de-david-19715

Translation:
"Thank God, thanks to the people and thanks to Chávez, in Venezuela there is no government which kneels before the banks... if that were so... a repressive government would come here and take you all out of this place to hand it over to the financial sector to do their business" These were the words spoken by Ernesto Villegas near the end of May at the Torre de David during a meeting with its denizens. Only 2 months later, it's Villegas himself who is now evacuating within hours of the night all of the inhabitants to hand over the building, according to unofficial sources, to a Chinese consortium (most likely the Bank of China)

So you see, kids? It's really not a problem if we're getting removed from the place we've been squatting at for the last 7 years as long as those we're being removed for aren't those nasty gringos. It's totally fine if it's anyone else, though, especially the Chinese! I'm curious to see how most of the families living there (all 1200 of 'em) will be doing a few months from now in their new "dignified" homes.

13. yes, indeed. I would also note the government had little to do with their living conditions there

other than not kick them out earlier. No provision of running water, electricity or services. it was all done by the residents themselves, good or bad as it was.

Considering they are being transfered to government run accomodations, I doubt it will be much better and they will likely be isolated from the rest of humanity if history is a guide. At least the trip up and down to their apartments won't be as tiring.

I have noticed though that not many chavistas are around much anymore since the death of Hugo with one notable exception.
