Colombias Supreme Court added an extra five years and seven months to the sentence of Medellins former chief prosecutor for aiding the neo-paramilitary drug trafficking organization Los Urabeños.
Former prosecution chief Guillermo Valencia, currently serving time for his ties to the Urabeños, received an extension to his 15 year sentence for omitting and concealing information about drug trafficker Juan Carlos Abadia, alias Chupeta.
Chupeta was a head of the now-defunct Norte del Valle drug cartel.
Guillermo is the brother of Fabio Valencia, the former Justice Minister under Alvaro Uribes administration, and currently a prominent member of Uribes Democratic Center party. Valencia was first arrested in 2008, when his brother was still in office, for his links to notorious drug lord Don Mario, the founder of the Urabeños.
